Gelmar has officially opened at Gezina Lifestyle Centre as of March 2026, bringing a fresh boost to the DIY offerings in the area. If you’re someone who’s always tackling home projects, this new outlet is perfect for you. Stepping into Gelmar, you’ll find everything from cupboard handles to kitchen and bathroom fittings, storage solutions, and all those essential little details that make a room complete. These are the practical items you don’t often think about until you need them and now they’re conveniently available right here in Gezina.
If you’ve been delaying that kitchen makeover, consider this your sign to start. Gelmar offers soft-close undermount runners and an extensive selection of handles, so you can finally create the kitchen you’ve been dreaming of. Sometimes, just swapping handles or improving storage can transform a space and give your room a fresh new feel.
The best part? Gelmar neighbours Builders Warehouse Gezina and ACDC Express, making it easy to gather all your renovation essentials in one trip. Pick up materials and paint at Builders Warehouse, lighting at ACDC, and your handles and fittings at Gelmar. It’s no wonder Gezina Lifestyle Centre has become the go-to destination for home improvements in the area.
Visit Gelmar at Gezina Lifestyle Centre, 358 Steve Biko Road, Gezina, Pretoria. They’re open seven days a week, from 9 am to 5 pm.
Towards the end of April 2025, Makro Gonubie opened to the public for the first time. The energy in the room was palatable with excitement as the staff sang boisterously at the official opening in front of the team leaders and management. The last time Makro opened a store was more than six years ago.
Mthatha, Gonubie and East London are all easily accessible from Makro Gonubie and this forms part of the second Makro opened in the Eastern Cape. The store caters for both crisp produce and cupboard stored produce allowing their customers to get the best of both worlds.
From design development to the end of the main contract the project took over four years to complete. The design development of the store made use of cement bricks which enhanced the sustainability of the project. Innovation was central to the development's teams' interests. The first combined carbon dioxide, heating ventilation and air conditioning units to allow for energy if a compressor fails in the refrigeration, which is a first of its kind.
Furthermore, extra cooling capacity can be pulled from the HVAC system to keep perishable stock fresh. Energy efficient resources were key to making the project work.
